A continuing series of short articles on some classics of mountain literature on UKhillwalking.com. What counts as a classic? For me, it's a mountaineering (or hiking) book I could recommend to someone who isn't a mountaineer. Accounts of amazing ascents, autobiographies of outstanding ascensionists – but if the book itself is a bit boring, it doesn't make it into my list.[back to the top]
